The Australian based Mark Tipple isn’t trying to grasp the serenity of the underwater landscape as much as he is examining the relationship people have with this seemingly peaceful place. His photos of people swimming under and often battling against waves demonstrate a powerful and realistic relationship people have with the ocean. It isn’t always majestic, often filled with snarling faces and limbs at awkward angles, but as anyone who has tried to dive under a wave and felt it take hold of them, that is often the way of the ocean.
